My Computer Now Runs an Hour Fast
A post without any pictures for once, can you imagine? I’m going to start a new section where I basically summarize recent events in my life/what I’ve been up to. Yep, just another narcissistic attempt to document my life.
Lately I’ve…
- Reformatted the laptop, which caught a virus when I tried to download a math program for a dumb calculus project. At least it was worth it, since there wasn’t even much stuff to back up off the laptop (being old and hopefully an in-between until I can get the HP TouchSmart tx2z). I am much more satisfied with my newly configured (but very old) Dell XP for now, though.
- Ordered the new 35mm f/1.8 Nikkor prime lens. It was a belated birthday present, and took an amazing amount of work to convince my dad to get it. I even got help from the kid brother on that.
- Accepted into the 4 UCs I applied to. Now I’m waiting on the last two school, which come out next Tuesday.
- Been driving! Today was actually only my fourth time driving–I’ve only recently gotten my permit–but I’m having fun trying not to be like all those people who do not understand how to drive smoothly after 20 years of experience! I’m looking at a couple (Asian) parents of a few friends, actually.
- Been going to Tea Station way too much. We say we’re celebrating admittance, but it’s really just another reason to hang out and not do anything after school.

I have a friend who was upset that she got accepted at Berkeley, because she wants to go to UCSD, but her parents will now force her to go to Berkeley just because she got in.

Ah – I would rather go to LA than Berkeley, mostly because of the proximity thing. BUT Cal has the better undergrad college – Haas – so my parents are much more adamant about me going there over other possible choices.
Get your permit soon! You can get yourself all excited by skimming through the DMV book. 
My laptop’s decided to deny the existence of its wireless card *sigh*, but other than that it’s behaving.
I want a nice camera so badly, but I don’t have the money or experience with photography to make it all worthwhile. So for now I just have one that I can fit in my purse and take to events
I got my full license last summer, so now I never have to take another test again
. Which I am SO happy about. That and highway driving is my new favourite thing. I get to do a lot of it between Toronto and Ottawa. Rush hour on the highway totally defeats the nice “whoosh” feeling that makes it enjoyable though 
And congrats on the acceptances! I remember how exciting that time was, feeling like you could do anything and go anywhere. Good luck choosing the one that will be the best fit for you!

But a laptop sans wireless card is like a desktop! (And one without internet is better off not existing at all). Tee.
Yeah, cameras and photo outfits are crazy expensive as a whole. I’m not sure if I can justify spending so much on mine, since its not a field that I aspire to go pro in. -.-
Haha. I want to drive so I can get places. It’s so much less work sitting in an SI and letting the friend go 100/hr while I sit back sipping iced coffee.
