Today during second period, I received a mysterious envelope with my name and an invitation inside, stating that I my presence was required at exactly 8:35am the following Tuesday. It was printed in bad font on a two-fold paper with ghastly patriotic-themed borders. At first, I assumed it was PSAT and NMSQT related, since I’d gotten a letter from them exactly a week ago.

But then I found out that some of the brightest students of the year (notably grade-wise, at least) had also received it who hadn’t been NMSQT-identified. Harsh and I counted off 9 total people (including ourselves) who’d also gotten it. We’re guessing top 10.

Which then begs the question: why did I get an invitation?

Mother dearest says she will be quite proud of me even if I do get #10. Dad asked why we were so excited, and then dismissed it when I said there probably wouldn’t be a prize. It runs in the family – really. /facepalm
